Burning plastics and metals at Candlestick State Park and Yosemite Slough
Tuesday 15 September 2015 03:12:48 PM
Location: Yosemite Slough
Category: Solid Waste
Description:
On a nearly daily basis, individuals burn electronics and wires along the shoreline at Candlestick State Park and Yosemite Slough to harvest the recyclable metals. They light the materials on fire to burn off the plastic and then dump the burning mass in the bay to cool. The instant and cumulative air, shoreline and water impacts are significant. The negative impacts on the community are real. I've attached a recent picture of one impacted area at Yosemite Slough. I have been seeing/following this activity on a regular basis (always early morning, pre-dawn) for over two years. I have called State Parks and SFPD on numerous occasions. I am willing and able to discuss this matter with any agency or group that can assist. Thank you for making this reporting system available to our community.

We more detail on the location. The map shows in Hunters Point, but the discription talks about Candelstick and Yosemite slough which are not apart of Hunter's Point. Hunter' Point has secruity guards 24/7 on base, so if this was happening daliy at the location on the provided map someone would have seen this in the last two years.
