Description:
An anonymous verbal complaint has been filed with the task force via Greenaction today from a person who says they have information that the community has not been informed by the PUC about several major and excessive air and water pollution discharges from the Southeast Sewage Treatment Plant. The caller says this includes illegal discharges of raw and partially treated sewage, a release of thousands of gallons of sodium hypochlorite into Islais Creek, and methane gas emissions into the air. These violations should be publicized to the community. Sewage treatment plant is at 3801 Third Street, San Francisco, CA 94124

At the July 22nd Task Force meeting, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and SF PUC promised to provide a complaint and compliance history for the last few years. On July 27 the Air District did provide a complaint history regarding the sewage treatment plant, and we are now requesting a full compliance history. The SF Public Utilities Commission and Water Board have also responded and we anticipate receiving their information in the coming days.
